Patrick & Bridget Toole 39 Woodland Rd, Seaforth, Liverpool

Hi all,

I'm trying to track the next step of Bridget Toole, any additional info on Patrick, or anything on their 3 children.

Patrick died in April 1916 in WW1 (Royal Dublin Fusiliers). We know he's buried at Bois-Carre Military Cemetery, Haisnes. The 'Find a Grave' info gives Bridget's address as 39 Woodland Rd.

I am trying to track down whether this was a temporary during the war, or a more permanent address for the family. I'm unsure if they stayed in Liverpool or move on.

His death widowed Bridget for the second time before the age of 30. She was born Doonan in Drogheda Ireland, before moving to Bray, Co Wicklow. Her first husband died of TB 2 years into the marriage ( a couple of weeks after the birth of their son). She remarried Patrick Toole, and they had three children,  James,Michael and Selina.

Any tips how to progress - where to look - would be brilliant.

Hiya Paul - how old was Patrick when he died please - what year did Patrick marry Bridget ? was her first husband named Wolfe ?...if so Patrick and Bridget married in 1901 , West Derby,Liverpool

ADDED- OK found CWGC record - he was 29 - so born 1886 /87 - where was Patrick born ?

there is a Selina O'Toole marrying in 1939 -also in Crosby - to a Bryan Sutcliffe - they have one son b 1844 - I presume Bryan spent a bit away fighting in WW2
freebmd  shows no records for Selina Toole - but one for Selina O'Toole - I wonder if it is her
has anyone looked for Michael /Selina /James and Bridget in 1939 register ??

Hi all,

am really appreciative of your efforts. I'll try to fill in some blanks.

Most recent - yes that's the family in 1911. They are from Bray in Co Wicklw.

Patrick was born in Bray about 1884. Bridget was born near Drogheda in 1882. They were married in 1907.

Bridget's maiden name is Doonan, but may also be found as Collins, her first husband's name.

Selina was born in 1914, Michael 1911 and James 1908....all in Bray, Co Wicklow. It is likely that the name morphed into O'Toole.

I'll try my own searches on the sites suggested, I haven't been able to find them on the Irish online sources, but I might have a longer look next time I'm in the Records Office.

I never thought to look in the 1939 census. I don't have full subscription to get in, but I can do the search

There is a death for Selina Nickolena Sutcliffe in 1987 District was Sefton North.  However - her birthdate was 3.2.1909 so not your Selina
