Placing images into posts
« on: Wednesday 26 July 17 11:34 BST (UK) »
What's the best program for placing images into posts.
I've been using photobucket but it's complaining that I'm using it for third party hosting.
It says it will restrict my use of the site.
Anyone know of a decent storage site where you can download images to forums.

I don't fancy that.
I don't want to broadcast to the world.
All I want is to place images into forum posts.

Buckhyne, I don't quite understand the problem. Can you not just attach the images to a post?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

There is a thread at the top of the Perthshire list called 'Perth Cemeteries'.
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=732409.0

I wrote it using photobucket for holding the images (12 of them).
If (and when) photobucket limits my use then I want to replace the thread with the same but using another site for holding the images.
I never thought of attaching the images directly but I don't know if I'll have the same control.
I'll give it a try  :D

I see!

I have 2375 photographs on www.flickr.com and I don't seem to have used more than a fraction of the space available to me.

Thanks, I also have 1260 photos on Flickr but several years ago I got upset when they altered the layout and I've never been back  :'(

I tried to add the images directly but I can't seem to control them.
I place 4 images in the attachment box (the thread is split into three parts each part having 4 photos).
But when I click on 'preview' nothing happens.
I don't think I could control them the way I want to.
I much prefer using a hosting site as it's far easier for an auld guy like me ;D

I think I've found a site which will host my images and allow me to download to forums etc.
It's called http://postimages.org/ and it does what I want.
It took a wee bit of jiggery pokery but I think I've got it dancing to my tune.
Time will tell  :D
