SPAIN / PUERTO RICO slave register
« on: Wednesday 26 July 17 19:52 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am looking for information regarding the slave register held by the Spanish Governors in Puerto Rico pre 1872. I know the National Archives in the US have some volumes on microfiche that can be ordered but I was wondering if there exists in Spain something similar yet more detailed. That is to say, that goes back even further than 1872.
I am particularly interested in the barrios of Aguada and Rincón. I am searching for information about Juaquin Alers Duprey, b. circa 1850 d. circa 1920, and his wife, Antonia Alers Servera ( or Cervera) b. circa 1851 d. circa 1941, both in Puerto Rico.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Kelger

Hi
I’m also doing research of slaves to Puerto Rico, Cuba. Trying to trace my 3x great grandparents from Cadiz, Spain, and West coast Africa.  Have you looked at African origins site. I found these really helpful and easy to use. Type in a surname and it shows you results.

Also slave voyages

Hope this helps.
