Yes I have the Portsmouth one as it seems more likely, just found a Frederick Robert Lewis with his parents in Portsmouth in 1911, born in Malta looks promising. Now I know it's an R not an E middle name.

Frederick A Lewis 1924 south stoneham is the son of Frederick R Lewis and Ellen v Hewitt, so that's correct.

I don't have access to the 1939 register so can only see the name details

Kev, Robert is there, but there's also a closed entry underneath him, which may be Frederick.
