OCCUPATION AS MACHINE MAKER
« on: Thursday 27 July 17 13:53 BST (UK) »
I'm still trying to find out about my Machine Maker g-grandfather.  I have now found he made Patent Firing Machines.  Anyone know what that is?

From the  Manchester Courier and Lancashire General Advertiser - Saturday 16 June 1827
By His Majesty's Royal Letters Patent
PATENT FIRING MACHINE. John Stanley, sole inventor, and the only real patentee of the self-acting feeding machine, for fuelling or supplying of furnaces.
In 1822 the Salford Iron Works became the sole manufacturers of Stanley's Patent Firing Machine which would save fuel and prevent smoke.
