Could last letter below soldier be I ( for Infantry?). What date was marriage? I learned the other day that while Britain was having frequent wars with France British Army used "Foot" instead of "Infantry" because the latter term was of French origin. I don't know when British Army regiments started to be called Infantry.

Thanks for all your answers and your help  :D

What did a soldier in his/her M.S?

My Ancestor with this occupation was George Burchell of Gloucestershire and I want to know more about his life and what he did . Are there any documents or records for soldiers in his or her M.S ?

Best wishes

Jane
