On this image which I posted above, http://www.rootschat.com/links/01kh3/  you can see the BIGGAM entry above it is for Charlotte Catherine BIGGAM marrying Henry Lucius KELLY.

Here is a Victorian birth

Frances Charlotte KELLY
At Emerald Hill
Year   1865
Father Henry Lucius KELLY
Mother Charlotte Catherine BIGGAM
REG.8392

So it looks as if Holmes did indeed bring family.

Edward Patrick KEATING and Margaret LANDELLS are noted as parents for a chap named Geoffrey KEATING whose death is registered in Victoria in 1901.  He was aged 40.  #14450.

Thanks @cupoflife. I have considerable information about his sisters Margaret, Mary, and Adelaide and their husbands and families, but not about the man himself.
Of course I have read all of the DIG and SLV websites and many (Australian) newspaper reports, but I am very grateful for this information you have provided which is new to me.
For the benefit of others whose posts above I have just read, of course I contacted Len Meany who provided some of the biographical information to DIG/SLV (his email has changed in the past year).

http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/174525985 Melbourne Punch, 22 Nov 1860
aside from the rest of the cutting, seems someone in Melbourne ‘knew’ the following about George James LANDELLS' family history  :)

father : Captain George LANDELLS of HM 22nd Regiment,
Grandfather: Quartermaster General of the Royal Artillery, Woolwich
Uncle: Captain W LANDELLS …

JM
They "knew" because Punch was sending up the prior letter to the same newspaper, in which she was defending the reputation of her brother GJ Landells.
To me, the joke? falls a little flat - depending on a mild misuse of Margaret's grammar.

Thanks @sparrett - I had the information about 2 other siblings, aged 17 and 14 when they came to Australia. You may have seen that one of them was admitted and released from a workhouse in England.

About GJ Landells, the bare information that I have collected - not well verified -

George James Landells, b. 5 Feb 1825, Barbados, West Indies; d. 4 Dec 1871, Rawal Pindi, Bengal, India

His wife was Elizabeth Rosa (no surname, dates or place of birth or death, and no marriage date for them).

The implication in the above is that you did not even know the man's parents' names.

Am I to understand from your replies above, which reveal you have considerably more knowledge about your people of interest than your Original Post suggests, that you were also aware of the information regarding Holmes BIGGAM?

No, I would have felt that information not particularly relevant and had not come across it.
