BISS- Stoke Lane near Frome
« on: Sunday 30 July 17 15:50 BST (UK) »
Having identified Hiram BISS (1757-1796) as the father of Elizabeth it was easy to identify his baptism, in Stoke Lane as the son of Edward. However, Edward appears elusive with no other children baptised in Stoke Lane and no readily identifiable marriage or burial.

Hiram was otp when he married Martha Fry in Frome in 1781.

Any suggestions for this family?

Hi Petros,

There are two entries on FreeReg for Edward at Stoke Lane near Frome.

Edward BISS    Marriage to   Sarah CARTER  25 Jan 1719/20    Somerset    Weston-Super-Mare : St John : Parish Register
Whether this is your Edward I'm not sure, but it is the only marriage I could find for Edward BISS.
It is also the only marriage for Edward Biss on  Phillimore's Marriage Records
Weston-Super-Mare is close to 30 miles from Frome.

Edward BISS    Burial    24 Sep 1728    Somerset    Stoke Lane : St Michael : Parish Register

Hope this helps you

Cheers
Geoff

There is also a burial for Jone BISS, wife of Edward at Frome on 18 Jan 1752. Difficult to know if it's your Edward though.   :-\

Modified to add: Edward BISS and Joan BLUNT were married at Frome on 7 Nov 1714 (Groom parish - Roden). As your Hiram was born 1757, it seems unlikely this is the same Edward, even if he married again after Joan's death.

thanks all. The last one may well be relevant, the others are possibly an earlier generation
