Burial (FindMyPast image)
Phillip Griffiths, age 97, 25 April 1757, Llantilio Crossenny

Mitchel Troy and Llantilio Crossenny not all that far apart.

Indeed not, thank you. Trouble is I have no marriage for John and Hannah. Searched the PR's back to the 1670's and the parishes surrounding Mitcheltroy, moving outwards.

1750 2d for Mick Griffiths, 1751 4d for Tom Griffits (sic), 1757 4d for Michollo Griffiths.

Well, at the risk of belaboring the point - "Michollo" is probably actually "Michelle", because in the handwriting back then an 'e' often looked a lot like an 'o' today.  If the 'e' in "phile" doesn't look like that, it could be a different letter.

Thanks, all I can say is the text is clear, which was not always the case with Mitcheltroy records.

Further thanks to everyone that contributed. 'phile' was actually Phillip born 1660. Hanes Teulu found this. A 2nd cousin has employed a professional genealogist who has cracked it all. So 'phile' (Tassee) did not die in 1757. I had found her burial at Whitchurch 1827 aged 79, giving a birth year of 1748.
