Marriage in Hong Kong or Canton?
« on: Monday 31 July 17 02:32 BST (UK) »
George Stacey Kennedy-Skipton married Helen Tow 23 August 1924. Burkes Irish Gentry.

However is it not known where they married. George was an employee of the Hong Kong Government and Helen was a missionary based out of Canton and working out of Hong Kong. They could have married in either place. I have full information on both their births and deaths and am just missing their marriage place.

With more reflection it seems that it is more likely that the Kennedy-Skipton/Tow marriage took place in her place of abode (Canton) than his (Hong Kong). It was published in the Quaker Records that she was organizing her own wedding. She had been in Canton since about 1915/16. She would have had more friends than him. They married on a Saturday which is logical as they both worked. Any guests from Hong Kong could have caught the train.
