I agree with this. What is also annoying is when they say a parish but do not say what county it is in. Ie they say "Baptised in Finchham in 1805". We need more info than that, we need a county.

Also what I get irked at is when I am helping someone and find info that may contradict their research and they totally ignore it.

And yes when they say "I knew all of that" or when they dont acknowledge you. A few months ago on here I helped someone prove a link to aristocracy as I checked wills for them and it proved the relationships. I saw that they had logged in since I posted the info and got no word of thanks or anything, I was met with silence. That grinds my gears, when you can see they have logged in after you have helped them and got met with silence.

But, of course, we all know that it will still happen, and we will carry on as normal because we like the challenge, and otherwise we might end up vegetating in front of the tele.    ;D ;D ;D

I hope I'm not guilty - I have to say people on here are fantastic and have broken down brick walls for me - then extra walls which I didn't even know about to ask for help on, maybe I would have discovered that wall in the future, but I'm quite happy to have more information than I asked for

So anyone who I have forgotten to thank - thank you from the bottom of my heart

Another one of my gripes is when I say I have looked through records to help someone with their query and not come up with anything, which can happen at the best of times and I say "I looked through the electoral registers on Anc for that street and found nothing of interest to you" and get no acknowledgement. Even if you dont find anything that could help them, they should always thank you for your time as you took the time out to help them.

I agree that it is nice when people say 'thank you' but quite often they don't even bother to reply.  ::)

I have just caught up with this thread and read the link, Snook has been online less than a week ago - how rude not to acknowledge the time taken to find the grave. 😡

The problem is you are then left up in the air not knowing if they haven't seen a reply as they don't have their setting so they get an email. I often send a PM asking if they have seen it!
