I get the feeling that Amsterdam is winning.  Here is, I hope, a better shot of the picture - hard to avoid shine, reflection etc.

There are similar buildings along the canal in Ghent, Belgium as seen in this picture. I can't find the artist I'm afraid.

I think now it may well be Ghent, as there are several similar paintings on line showing that church spire on the left.

I think the problem is that a lot of the buildings along the canals in Amsterdam and Ghent are very similar ie tall and narrow.

I've been to both Amsterdam and Ghent, and it could really be either, although I still incline towards it being in Amsterdam.

But....dare I suggest that it could also be Delft  :-X

I am confused!  I shall start again with a better photo of the artist's signature, when I can manage it, and try to work from there.
