Would like some help with the sister's name please... Mary what?
« on: Tuesday 01 August 17 15:51 BST (UK) »
Hi
If anyone can help with Michael Riley's sister's name please, I would be most grateful... I'm presuming it's a married name as it doesn't look like Riley.

So far I have come up with Sister Mary Lee Al???? Candelaria Co. Nevada USA. Candelaria is now a ghost town in the county of Mineral County, Nevada but at the time I think it was in Esmeralda County, Nevada. I can't find a record of her emigrating at all.

For context, Michael Riley was born in 1866 in Swansea, Wales and this is his attestation papers from 1887. He was in the RA and then RGA until 1904 when he was discharged. This is why his next of kin have changed over time as his mother Mary Riley who died whilst he was serving. His other next of kin are his brother Patrick and his brother Thomas who was in the South Wales Borderers (I've not found him there yet).

His sister Mary was born in 1869 also in Swansea. Wales, and was in the 1871 and 1881 census in Swansea with her parents and is possibly in Cardiff, Wales still unmarried in the 1891 census as a servant aged 23 with the Jones family and other visitors.

I've tried all sorts of searches to find Mary after 1891 but so far have come up with nothing. Any ideas on that name would be wonderful.
TIA (I'm also presuming that the page I attached is there when I post... )

Sorry, can't help with surname after 'All' but I have enhanced the image a wee bit.

Thank you. Fabulous ideas and results. And I've found a marriage of a Mary Reilly (sic) to a Henry Leedham in Washoe, Nevada in 1890.

This will also help with a window for when she emigrated & who with if not alone.
