Samuel Millard marrying a Mary Ann Gore

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with finding a marriage between a Samuel Millard and a Mary Ann Gore possibly outside of the UK but maybe not.

My partners Great Grandad William Millard died at 25 In Scotland in a fatal accident in the Navy. He is buried in Wigan with his wife's deceased family. He was born in 1915 and a birth I can find of a William Millard around that time is in Wigan in 1915 and maiden name as Dempsey...I then found a marriage of a Samuel Millard and a Mary Ann Dempsey in Wigan in 1906.

I found Williams death certificate on Scotland's people which described his death and exact residency in Wigan...then came the parents...Samuel Millard and Mary Ann Millard - maiden name GORE!! Both deceased at the time of his death in 1941

I have searched high and low for a Samuel Millard and Gore marriage along with her being a Dempsey marrying a Gore and vice versa. I even found a Samuel Millard and Mary Ann Millard in Hindley cemetery In Wigan but in the notes of Mary it says "Williams wife" also both Samuel and Mary had died before 1941.... As you can tell I'm very confused and started wondering if there was a Millard Gore marriage outside of the UK?

Are you 100% sure he was born in Wigan?

How about this birth, date is slightly out though.

Does his death certificate give his exact date of birth?

Hi groom than you for replying, I have been down this route and found this family and though I had cracked it until I found that the William J Millard from near Cardiff died in the 1980s.
 I don't know he was born in Wigan but I also can't find any other William Millards with a Samuel and Mary as parents in the UK.
When I was looking up the Dempsey side in an early census the Mary A Dempsey lived with her mother few doors down from a Gore family who infact had a Mary....maybe who filled out the death certificate was misinformed of his mothers maiden name. I really don't know

Definitely something odd. If you look on Freebmd the only Millard/Gore births are from the Merthyr Tydfil family who had children at regular intervals from 1913 to 1923. So it does look as if there may be a mistake on the death certificate.

Have you tried looking for Samuel Millard in 1911 to see if that helps or for the family in 1939?

I'm going to fine tooth comb it again, what makes it more odd it that the  Millard/ Dempsey had 3 other sons who are on Lancashire parish records to see...but William isnt, maybe Samuel had an affair and a Mary Gore just claimed her name as Millard.

I thought it said Wales at first but its Walls in the County of Orkney, Scotland.

I think Samuel and Mary Ann could be on the 1911 census, but we aren't allowed to give information from that. However, it links back to the Millard/Dempsey marriage.
