Sedgley records
« on: Wednesday 02 August 17 15:59 BST (UK) »
Please has anyone got  access to the parish records for Sedgley or os going to the Record Office soon?
I have a John FLAVELL on a tree he married in 1739 in Sedgley, Several trees  on line have a baptism for him
Christening: 6 MAR 1721. All Saints Parish Church, Sedgley, Staffordshire, England.
but Family Search and Free Reg do not include this baptism Is it possible for some one to check if it does exist please
Many thanks

May I add a look up for two deaths to see if there is anything that will distingush who they belong to
both are for John Flavelll one on 21 Sep 1768 the other 10 May 1769 both in Sedgley All Saints.

Thank you ,that is the right marriage I am trying to find is who was the husband of Mary Akiss If the trees on line are correct the John they have baotised in 1720 may well be my man  similarly if either of the deaths has an age it could hekp sorting "my" John.
Cheers

Hi
I've not been to the record office but I had a quick look on FindMyPast and no john anything baptised at Sedgley for that date.
It doesn't have burials so no good looking at them
There is a baptism
John Flavell 12.8.1716 son of Daniel Flavell.

Couples at the time are Daniel and Anne,Daniel and Mary (presumably the son of the first couple baptised 14.8.1692),Thomas and Mary (another son  baptised 12 Feb 1698) and Joseph and Ann/Hannah (another sibling 28 Feb 1705).

So it's all the same family which ever brother it is who's Dad.

Hi Ciderdrinker yes you jave exactly as I have only the one John Looking at those other trees I notice some give a birth date 5 Mar 1720 now this is the date Family search has for the baptism of Valentine son of Daniel and Mary! I think there was only one John 1716 and have put him on the tree
Any ifeas how to sort the two burials out?
Thank you for the help

Hello
Happy to help but I don't see a way to resolve those burials. FindMyPast has neither and there's no matching Wills so no luck there.
Only chance I can think of is a gravestone at Sedgley but what re the chances?
Birmingham & Midland SGH has published a list of gravestones but obviously they want you to buy the CD.

Sadly I agree its a very slim chance I have a feeling these are Gypsy folk and not likely to have MIs I am thinking there was only the one John and he was son of Daniel and Mary born 1716 I think the 1720 one was a mistake from the Valentine baptism copied by several others Any way if there was a 1720 he nay be a bit young to be "my" Joihn
Many thnks for the help
 :)
