John Easton baptised either 1783 or 1785 at Ninfield
« on: Friday 04 August 17 17:38 BST (UK) »
SFHG have the baptism of John Easton, s/o Joseph and Grace Easton on 13 Jun 1783 whereas FamilySearch have the baptism as 13 Jan 1785.

I've checked for a burial of the 1783 John but can't find one on SFHG, FamilySearch or A*****ry.

Is there any way I can check out the parish records/BTs originals online?

Joseph "Eston" and Grace Blackman married in Ninfield 4th July 1774.   Witnesses Thos King and Thos Colbran.  Did they have other children so that you can work out a date pattern?

They did have other children baptised at Ninfield but the sequence doesn't help too much:

Elizabeth (1)  09 Oct 1774
Joseph (1)  08 Mar 1776
Mary (1)  24 Oct 1777
Sarah (1)  03 Jun 1779
Joseph (1)  29 May 1781
William (1)  20 Oct 1782
John (1)  13 Jun 1783 (SFHG transcription) *
John (1)  13 Jan 1785 (FamilySearch record) *
Elizabeth (1)  19 Mar 1786
Jenny (1)  25 Mar 1787
Phanny (Fanny / Frances) (2) 26 October 1788, (Dlianny in SFHG transcription!) #
Richard (2) 31 January 1790,
Stephen (2)  22 May 1791,
Henry (1)  24 January 1796.

The number in brackets refers to the surname, i.e. 1=Easton and 2= Eston.

There is no 1783 baptism of John on the BT
The 1785 baptism is there, as described
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-D1F3-PLB?i=772&cat=585700
(can be seen if you are registered/ logged in)

No burial of a John in between those two dates.
And the baptisms indexed on Family Search are taken from the parish register (mf 1067259).
John

Thanks jonw65, one conundrum resolved.

Thanks also for the tip about BTs on FamilySearch, that hopefully will help with other issues I have with another family on another post - Robert Marchant of Battle.
