Maybe is is Shoemaker but mistranscribed? Like to know what the actual image has.

Esther was certainly a busy girl though.

A Tree has her marrying George Walker 02 Sep 1878 • Dysart Manse

Can anyone identify the maiden name of Easther Scott?
Looks like Varne.

Also I can't make out the occupation of James Husband?
Cabinetmaker.

Snodland https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snodland

Esther Vane, mother Rofe, born Maidstone, 1847, December quarter, GRO Ref Vol 5 page 326. Nothing under Vaine or Varne. Snodland is in Maidstone registration district.

Esther Vane or Scott married George Walker in Dysart in 1878. The marriage certificate should confirm her parents' names.

In 1851, Esther is with her parents, James and Ann, at Windmill Cottage, Staplehurst, Kent

HO107/1616/276/25

and 1861, at Headcorn, Hollingbourne

RG9/506/85/14

Interestingly, James is a cordwainer/shoemaker.

James Vane married Ann Rofe on 24th Nov 1833, Cranbrook.

I wonder if there was really a marriage to David Scott. Or is John Duncan the same person?

Esther Married John Duncan 1867. By 1871 is Mrs Scott, not many years in between those 2 events.
Then next Marriage 1878 to George Walker.

Interestingly F/S has this;
David Duncan SCOTT christening: 1 July 1845, All Parishes, Jamaica
Parents David Scott and Susan Chambers.

1861 Census has a John Duncan in kent, Second Battalion 17th Regiment of Foot, born  1842 Huddersfield, Yorkshire.
(Just posting in case he is a suspect in the future)

Interesting - I've just found the 1867 marriage in Snodland

Esther Vane (aged 20) to John Duncan (aged 25). John is down as a Shoemaker. Father - John Duncan.

Her father as found above.

Any sign of  John Duncan on the 1871?

Plenty of John Duncans in Kent in 1871 Census but none are married Shoemakers/Cordwainers.

There is Death Reg for one 1874 age 33 in Woolwich
