Gairvour Cottages
« on: Saturday 05 August 17 22:24 BST (UK) »
Hi just wondered if anyone could help. My hubby`s family were from Shire Newton or more to the point Langwn Icha  I know where this is however having problems with finding the address. On 1871 census it identifies information as
Jennet Williams  living at Gairvour cottages Parents Thomas and Somesa (louisa)
Any help would be appreciated

I'm not quite sure what kind of information you are seeking as address in 1871 is Gairvour Cottages - there are a number of cottages with occasional house names in between - the cottages wouldn't have a number given at that time on the census

I found a newer map with a place called Gaer fawr in the area and wondered if this may have been named Gairvour at some time.

You could go through the enumerators walk on the census to give a further idea of the area

Thank you Suz
I hadn`t thought of going back to the beginning of the enumerators walk, we had considered the fact that it could now be called GaerFawr so I have just done the walk of the area on google maps and it does look as if they lived in one of the cottages in the area called Gaer-Fawr, see an afternoon trip out coming up.
thank you again
