Highworth burial register 1845 Thomas Baldwin
« on: Monday 07 August 17 12:28 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I have a burial register entry for Thomas Baldwin 1845 in Highworth, Wilts.
I have some difficulty with the date - is it 11th over 20th Decemeber, and further,  can anyone identify what is written in the next column please - is it the initials of the person altering the date or does it say something like 10 months (as in age).

Many thanks for all your help

Agree with Geoff - 19th and 10 months.

The Wiltshire Index records it as 19th but the Bishops Transcripts have it as 29th. I think it looks as if  the 29th was corrected to 19th on this snip.

Geoff & Gadget,

Many thanks for your readings. Its obviously not the Thomas I was looking for so I'm back to the searching.

Which Thomas are you looking for?  Do you have a year of birth for him?

The GRO now has death records which show ages between 1837 and 1957.
Ashford: Somerset, London
England: Devon, London, New Zealand
Holdway: Wiltshire
Hooper: Bristol, Somerset

Hi Girl Guide,

Sorry i haven't replied earlier. I was looking for the burial of a Thomas Baldwin who was married to a Jane (name unknown). I have no dates for either baptism or marriage, yet.
All I know is that they were the parents of of Joseph, Ann, Elizabeth etc.
Joseph was born 1770 in Sevenhampton and bapt. in Highworth 18-2-1770 and it appears they may have subsequently moved to Sparsholt in Berks as there are 3 children bapt. there. Same family ?? I don't know.
The burial of the Thomas I listed I thought could have been him in 1845 - not so.
