If Richard George arrived as an unassisted immigrant then sadly you won't find any records of his arrival.  Records for unassisted immigrants commenced in 1852 following legislation requiring ships' captains' to keep passenger lists.

Josephine Margarette POETT's father Joseph, a surgeon, was born in Ireland and married Julia Eliza MADDEN in 1804 in Dublin.  He appears to be living alone on the 1841 census in London.  He had a son also named Joseph but with second given name John.

A snip from the London Gazette.

Cando you have uncovered some good info. The death of Joseph Poett - surgeon in Dec 1850 at Brighton uk. This is only a few months after the marriage of Richard George and Josephine.
I have also found an entry on the 1841 Census where 3 Toovey children were at a Boarding School - Bushey Grove House, Watford Hertfordshire. His age of 14 matches the birth date 1827 abt.
The other 2 were Frederick Toovey age 12 (didn't know about him) and William aged11. Williams age matches as well. Also lists that they were born outside the county.

In Regards Lingwood Toovey, I have confirmed he is connected to my branch of Tooveys some time ago. He had a sad ending where he was admitted to the Adelaide Lunatic Assylum where he died.
Lingwood died before his parents and he is listed on a Tombstone , St Marys church in home town of Westerham Kent. Interesting character indeed Cano.
Lingwood had an elder brother Richard George Toovey who was born in 1827 and apart from a baptism entry, I haven't found anything on him at all.
That is when I discovered a Richard George Toovey in Adelaide and am trying to connect him to either Westerham Kent or Colchester Essex some how.
The interesting thing is that this Richard George also ended up being committed to the Adelaide Assylum in 1887 where he died.
Lots of little conincidents but no actual connection.
I am now looking to contact Tooveys residing in Adelaide to see if there is any knowledge there.

So the Symbol S on Lingwood's death reg was because of his place of death.

By goodness poor Sarah Whitaker LINGWOOD who married Richard at Colchester, Essex in 1821.  I've counted fourteen chn that may be theirs - that includes those you found at boarding school.

Various trees have an incorrect date of death for Lingwood.  He died on 28 May not 2 May.  I note there is no mention of Lingwood on this website where there is a thumbnail of the TOOVEY headstone http://www.gravestonephotos.com/public/gravedetails.php?grave=339633&scrwidth=1258

Only 5 TOOVEY's in SA according to Whitepages.  Good luck :)

Cando. My Toovey family research has thrown up a lot of surprises . Seem to be always finding out new info, some good some not so good.
Yes indeed a big family, I think maybe 13 children. 6 males and 7 females. Also due to the times many died quite young.
By the way Te 1841 census that had a Richard, Frederick and Edward has been proved not the one. Edward died in 1833 and no Frederick.
