William Goddard b. ca. 1815, Enfield

Hello,

Would anyone be able to tell me anything of William Goddard, born around 1815, in Enfield? He married Elizabeth Smith in Chadwell St. Mary, Essex in 1838, and died there in 1880. Most of the Goddards descended from him have been born in Essex to my knowledge, with some moving out to Leicester and Winchester, in recent years.

His marriage certificate would give you father’s name & occupation

That's his marriage record. I was just looking to see if anyone had access to baptism records for Enfield. And yes, both censuses are for him and his wife.

Thanks for that. There's a good chance that's him. His d.o.b. is given as 1815 on most of the censuses, but I don't know why that could be.

Here's a John & Martha Goddard on 1841c living in Enfield, you would need to look at the original to confirm his occupation but I think it's an Agri. Labourer

The only way to be 100 % certain of William's father's name/occupation would be by obtaining
his marriage certificate to Elizabeth Smith.
