Did a Perry marry a Perry
« on: Tuesday 08 August 17 18:20 BST (UK) »
I have a Edward Perry in the 1861 census Rg09 1069 64 20 age 28 with his wife Mary age 26 and their children.

There is a marriage in Romford in 1855 on the Free bmd site of a Edward Perry and a Mary Ann Perry's name is on the same page did they marry each other.

If they did marry each other were they related.

Suggest you obtain marriage cert to find fathers names, they were born pre reg.

You may then be able to obtain parish info to see if family connected

Good luck

Hi buzz I can confirm this indeed the case. Edward and Mary are my 3 x grandparents.
Edward was born 1827 in ilford, the 3rd child of john perry b. 1801 and Esther.
Edward married Mary Ann perry 21/12/1858 at St. Peter and St. Paul Dagenham.
Mary's parents were john perry and Hannah Clark she was born 06/09/1833 in Roswell Essex.
Hannah perry nee Clark went on to marry a William Mundy, as Edward died 10/07/1882
I am descendent from Thomas William perry their youngest child born 04/07/1878.
Hope this helps

Thank you to both of you for your replies.

Especially to tigger for all the information, I am researching for a friend who is also a 3x great grandchild of Edward and Mary Ann Perry through their daughter and eldest child Emily Esther Perry born 1857, on tigger's reply she states that Edward and Mary Ann were married at the end of 1858 but on Free bmd it is down in the September quarter of 1855 could someone confirm which is correct.

On the 1881 census Rg11 1747 44 4 Edward 48 years old and Mary 45 years old only have one child with them Arthur who is 19.

Hi buzz
Sorry wrong perry marriage, not been on this side of my tree for about 3 years.
Edward and Mary were married 15/09/1855 in great ilford, I have tried to upload copy of marriage cert but file too big ☹️Are you aware that Emily was not there eldest child ?? They had an Eliza born 10/02/1856....died March quarter 1856.
Edward died on 10/07/1882 and is buried at st Mary's church ilford.

Have you seen the cert both the father of the bride and of the groom are called John both fathers are labourers and both are living in Chadwell, I assume they mean Chadwell Heath not Chadwell St Mary, it was witnessed by Thomas Duncombe and Susan Brown

Thank you Jolee for your reply.

Tigger did state in an earlier reply that both fathers names were John but thank you for the additional information of their occupation where they lived and the witnesses to the marriage.
