Hudson Kearley, Viscount Devonport
« on: Tuesday 08 August 17 18:34 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Family myth has it that my grandma was related to Hudson Kearley, a member of Lloyd George's wartime cabinet. Her paternal grandmother was a Kearley, also born in Uxbridge. Hudson was born there in 1856, while my ancestor was born there in 1869, her father there in 1830, and his father, John Kearley, in Dorchester, in about 1794. Hudson's father, George E. Kearley, was born in 1814. Does anyone happen to know anything of Hudson's paternal line?

Thanks,

Adam McGregor

No problem. Now we just need to locate a record for George Ewbank Kearley, father William. And then move back from there. Probably a distant connection if there is one.

1841 census has George with William and Anna Kearley in The Greenway, Uxbridge ( I knew it well in 1960s!). Relationships not shown in that census but I suspect they are his parents.

Is William shown to be born in the county? If there's an 1851 record it'll detail more.
