Kirby Wiske Bishop Transcripts
« on: Tuesday 08 August 17 22:34 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know if there are Bishop Transcripts for Kirby Wiske - I've been looking for a baptism there in 1776/1777 and there are some entries damaged, about four, in a section.  So, I'm eager to see if the BTs are in better condition.

Apparently findmypast has baptisms for Kirby Wiske 1615-1914, nut I do not know if they are from the registers or BTs

Added: This link says there are copies of the BTs at the West Yorkshire Archive Service, Leeds

(but it is an old link)
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Thank you, I'm on Find My Past and have access but it seems to be originals - one of the few times I'd prefer a BT ha.

Have you tried the West Yorkshire Archives as mentioned above

No as I've only been looking tonight but I will - although I'm surprised as the parish falls within the North Riding.

I don't know the precise reason why but YAS do have some North Yorkshire records for some reason so its always worth looking there if you cannot find them in North yorkshire

Thank you - I'll have a think about this for tomorrow.

In the meantime, I found some baptisms of children named Miller in Kirby Wiske (from c. 1781-1795), children of William Miller (c 1753-1829) and Elizabeth (c 1754-1795).  I have looked but struggling to come up with an appropriate marriage for the parents.  Could some one else take a look please?

Best wishes.
