David Andrew Barnard Birth abt 1771 London area

Looking for parents of David Andrew Barnard Birth abt 1771 Death about 1837.  There is a David Barnard death registration in April 1839 in Whitechapel and another for a David Barnard in 1836 in London so unsure on death.

We have a marriage by banns October 22, 1798 in London to Sarah Lee 1776-APRIL 1864 Bethnal Green, London.   His name is misspelled as Barnet but both he and Sarah signed their names clearly.  Would it be unusual for both to be able to sign their names?  A Joseph Lee was a witness but have been unable to find Sarah's parents or siblings.  Other witness was Sarah Coventry possibly.  Again both very nice signatures

I believe there were 8 children of David Andrew and Sarah.

The GRO index shows the David Barnard who died Jun qtr 1839 Whitechapel was aged 2, so doesn't look like a match.

What is the source for middle name Andrew?

I see an 1802 St Sepulchre baptism for David Andrew Barnard born 1793 - parents listed as plain David and Sarah.

The marriage does not show a middle name for David Barnard.  Where is the middle name Andrew mentioned.

It would not be that unusual for them to sign their names at this time.  Looking at other marriages on the adjoining page about 50% of those signed.

The 1836 death was of David Barnard, 60, of Gretton Terrace, Green St, Bethnal Green.  He was buried 3 Jan 1836 at Globe Fields (Wesleyan) burial ground in Stepney.

AVM228-  I believe that is their son also known as David Andrew.

Middle name comes from family history and online sources.  I know this type of information can be unreliable

I am not sure what you mean by "online sources"?  Is there any document from David's lifetime that gives him (as opposed to his son) a middle name, and what is the source for a c1771 birth?

Sorry for a slow reply to questions posed here.

Online sources are other posted trees.  Sadly not documents.  My grandmother had written the name David Andrew Barnard in a document she created but there were no supporting documents. 

Approximate 1771 birth was proposed by a contact in England also doing research.  I recently reached out to them again but email was returned undeliverable.  Also, online trees suggested this date as well. 

Fully aware that such trees are an unreliable source for information. 

We know he married Sarah Lee October 22, 1798 by Bann  but name was misspelled .  However, the signature is clear for both bride and groom in the image I have (see attached)  Have not found the Joseph Lee who was a witness or any connection to a Sarah Coventry.  I am a bit surprised all could sign their name.  Was that common in 1798 for people in London?
