Sandra - have been put on to your link via Maggie whose asked me to respond on our joint behalves.
We're both related to Alexander McPherson.  My link is through Alexander's half brother - John Thomas Macpherson (yes he spelt the name differently as we've continued to do so!).
Hugh Lyon Playfair McPherson was born c1848 in Kirkcaldy, Fife, 8th son of James McPherson and Ann Don.  The family appear to have been living in Dunning, Perthshire but then moved around over several years.  They eventually moved down to London - Isle of Dogs.
Hugh married 3 times.  His first marriage was to Rebecca Luke (born 1848) and they had 2 boys and  a girl.  Elizabeth born 1868, Charles Hugh born 1870 and John Thomas born 1872.  Sadly Rebecca died in 1875 of typhoid.
Hugh married a second time, as you've noted, to Mary Elizabeth Arundell and they went on to have 6 children of their own,   Alexander being their second born.
Whilst I live in New Zealand, relatives in Middlesbrough had notified about this enquiry and we're now in touch with Mo Russell of CWGC and cousin John is acting on behalf of us.

Thank you for your reply.  Pleased you are in touch with Mo Russell of CWGC.
A number of relatives have been found since this project was launched to honour the hundreds of “forgotten” soldiers from both world wars who are not currently commemorated because many of those overlooked died of wounds or illness, away from the front line.
