Hi Irene and welcome to Rootschat...it would be good if you could say when and where he was born.

This could be his medal card:

Regimental Number:   1982, 225560, 4070156

First a Private...then a Corporal

This is his POW index card (it has him as Spriggs) - not much information there I'm afraid https://grandeguerre.icrc.org/en/File/Details/5082159/3/2/ if you click the search button, it takes you to the register which again has nothing on it really.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

I should have continued.  The register is a list made on 19 April 1916 of men returned to the POW camp at Soltau (north of Hannover in Germany) on 24 Dec 1915  from another camp at Friedrichsfeld north of Duisberg.  That would seem to suggest he was in Soltau first.  You can find pictures of both camps with a bit of Googling.
