I've been going through some of the marriage bonds in the Diocese of Chester.

On Aug 7 1613, Henry Harper got himself a licence to marry Alice Dunbabin of Daresbury, spinster. The marriage to be at Daresbury.

On Jan 22 1629/30, Henry Harper got himself a licence to marry Alice Dunbabin of Daresbury, spinster. The marriage to be at Frodsham or Daresbury.

I can't find an actual marriage for either party as there are gaps in the records, but the burial of a Henry, son of Henry Harper, took place at Daresbury in 1634.

Sixteen years between proposals. Is that something of a record?

I wonder what happened between 1613 and 1630.

Maybe Henry was an early settler in Virginia and decided after 15 or so years he wanted to return to Daresbury.  Wouldn't that be exciting!
