What 'Place' in 1871?
« on: Friday 11 August 17 09:06 BST (UK) »
This is part of a census-taker's area in 1871.  The fourth line down has 'something Place' and I've seen two different transcriptions of it.  I pretty much know where it would have been but unfortunately it doesn't seem to show up on any maps.

I have an opinion but no evidence.  What do you think?

It looks like Tim Place.
The 'T' is similar to the 'T' in Taylor but not quite the same.
What does the address say on the census form? Sometimes I have to go back and forth and check the Enumerator's walk because of the differences in handwriting as you have done here. :)

I posted after you JenB so saw your reply in the warning but not the image.

It just shows - my thoughts were that it was the initial letter that was causing the problems  ::)

It is, as Bookbox says, Lion Place   ;D

Have found it in 1881, the 'walk' is almost identical.  Will post an image.

Cheers
