Parentage of Margaret Fry - married Benjamin Tupling, Bloomsbury 1776
« on: Sunday 13 August 17 12:53 BST (UK) »
Hi from Victoria, Australia.

I am having difficulty Down Under, finding any info re birth and parents of Margaret Fry, before she married my 4th great grandfather Benjamin Tupling at St Georges, Bloomsbury, on 12 Feb 1776.
Banns states Margaret was of this parish, however hours of researching limited resources here, has not confirmed a Margaret Fry of this era, and marrying age, in this locality. Benjamin died in 1797 at Marylebone and Margaret passed away there too, in 1798.

As a related question of interest, their only surviving son Benjamin junior was 12 years then, and going by later land tax records of 1816 as attached, he was living next door to a Fry family in Clarendon St St Pancras. Therefore, I believe it is likely a Fry family member may have adopted Benjamin Junior, and I am wondering if there is a UK register of adopted orphans, which may clarify this possibility please?

Many thanks for whatever assistance or leads you may be able to assist with.

The titleof your post states that Margaret Fry married Benjamin Tupling in Bloomsbury 1812 yet in the actual post you state she married 1776. Which is correct?

Sorry Emelton,
There were 3 generations of Benjamin Tuplings in this family. It should have read "margaret Fry married Benjamin Tupling in Bloomsbury 1776".
Thanks
