A Samuel Linnett married an Ann Folsom in Stisted in 1729. I could see a couple of children to this couple, but no Sarah. The records are a bit hard to read, so she could be there an I missed it. Maybe someone else could have a look.

Hi
I believe the surname will be Houlsom and not Folsom.
In Stisted a Samuel Houlson & wife Elizabeth have family
- Samuel 1695  - possibly dies 1729
- William 1699
- John 1700
- Ann 1701
- Thomas 1704
- Sarah 1705
- James 1708 bapt 4 May; buried 6th May (the only one whose death appears)

An Ann Houlsom dies in April 1693

Regarding Lynett/Linnett there is one family in the Stisted parish being Joseph & Sarah.
Their children:
- Joseph 1693
- Sarah 1694
-John Bapt 29th May 1697

Joseph Linnot snr is buried on Sept 12th 1703 along with his wife, a child of William Coward's on the same day.

A Sarah dies in July 1697 and another in 1701.

[There is an earlier Linnett family being Joseph and wife Susan who have:
- Johannis b 1654, bapt 1665
- Maria 1666]

Of the Samuel Linnett and Ann Houlsom marriage in 1729 (Anne would have been 28) there are two children in the register:
- Ann 1731
- Mary 1733

The two key records that are missing with these connections  which help to locate be appreciated are:
1. the birth of a Sarah to Samuel Linnett and Ann Houlsom - if born to this couple she would have been after Ann (that's mothers first name) so circa 1732. With Sarah  Linnett's bastard child bapt in 1749 suggests she would have been 17 or younger. Alternatively she is of another Linnett family in another parish?

2. the birth of a Samuel Linnett to Joseph and Sarah circa 1700.  Yet to locate the marriage of Joseph Linnett and Sarah Coward too.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Warwick

Hi again
For those following this thread contrary to my last post I have found further evidence concerning the Folsom / Houlsom name.

The marriage for Samuel and Elizabeth is listed on Family Search IGI as Samuel Foulsom m Elizabeth Stevens in Colchester dated  4 Sept 1694.
(If anyone has access to St Mary the Virgin at the Walls, Colchester parish records please a transcription of this record would be appreciated).

The likely deaths for them in Stisted are listed as Falsom. This is all pointing to the family name being Foulsom / Folsom or similar and the 'H' being the tradition double ff.

Noting too that an Apprentice listing for son John in Halstead (near Stisted) dated 1713 informs that Samuel was a Grocer in Stisted.

Regards

Hi - a correction to earlier post - the Church for Samuel Foulsom m Elizabeth Stevens should be 'St James' in Colchester.
