Isaac Andrews marriages Braintree 1769
« on: Monday 14 August 17 03:09 BST (UK) »
Hi
Looking for assistance to verify research done by others.
I have in my tree that an Isaac Andrews m Sarah Brentnall on 13 Sept 1769 at St Michael of Archangel, Braintree.

On Ancestry there is then another family tree listing claiming the same Isaac Andrews marries Sarah Linnett on 19 Sept 1769 in Braintree. It is unsourced.

I would be keen to please shed some light on this and establish which listing may be correct.
Regards
Warwick

Bentall is the correct one.
The couple were both single and were married by licence with consent of parents.
Sarah was of the parish of Stisted.
Witnesses were Nathan Summers and Robt. Collis.

Thank you very much Sue for your prompt response - much appreciated.

Is there a Linnett marriage and if so what are the details please as I suspect I'll need to put a case to the various trees incorrectly listing that marriage?

Can I please ask another question of yourself or anyone else with access to Stisted parish records - is there any evidence of Sarah's birth in the parish?  or Isaac's birth in the Braintree parish?

As additional information I believe they had two sons John 1770 and Isaac 1774.

Thank you again for your assistance.

Wow - that is great research and while I guess difficult to always be 100% certain makes absolute sense.
There is no tree on Ancestry showing that link - I wonder where the marriage reference is - I'll have to see if anyone has sourced it.
Thank you again. Very much appreciated.

A Samuel Linnett married an Ann Folsom in Stisted in 1729. I could see a couple of children to this couple, but no Sarah. The records are a bit hard to read, so she could be there an I missed it. Maybe someone else could have a look.

Thank you for that information. I was actually thinking about the earlier reference to the Sarah Linnett m Isaac Andrews marriage on 19 Sept 1769 v's the Sarah 'Brentnall' m Isaac Andrews on 16 Sept 1769. Nevertheless your information about Samuel Linnett m Ann Folsom is interesting.

Q. Can you please confirm the best search of the Essex Parish Registers is at Essex Archives Online? The Family Search IGI don't appear to be that complete?

Your assistance is much appreciated
regards
Warwick

Yes Essex ancestors at Seax is the best, they do various subscriptions. They also do wills with images, which are helpful if you find your ancestors left any.

Don't forget FreeReg, this also has quite a few Essex registers transcribed.
