Lindley Zion Chapel Burial Ground
« on: Monday 14 August 17 22:01 BST (UK) »
I have recently found the resting place of my Gt Grandfather. He was interred in a common grave at the Lindley Zion Burial Ground between Lidget Street and Zion Close. There is a grassed over area with headstones placed against a rear wall. My plea is this. There is a monument just over the wall this side of Zion Close which I assume is dedicated to the burial place itself. I would love a photograph of this monument if some kind person could oblige. Unfortunately I am disabled and live in Oxfordshire so cannot do this myself. Any help would be most welcome with grateful thanks.
Andrew.

Hi

The chapel was pulled down and the most of the graves removed. Some of the headstones and a few large monuments are still on the ground but not in the right place the rest were removed, including several war graves.
I haven't up to the ground for a while but which one do you want.

Many thanks to all the replies. To John thank you for the info regarding the memorial. I thought it might be dedicated to the burial ground itself. As my Gt Grandfather Adam Saville did not have a headstone to my knowledge I need not waste any ones time in doing a search.
Kind regards, Andrew.

Just an idea to try - telephone or email the LOCAL STUDIES library in Huddersfield.  They offer a free 30 minute search, and will telephone you back with the results.  Also ask them to check with their next door neighbours The West Yorkshire Archive Service (Kirklees) where the records for that burial ground are lodged?
Happy hunting

That is good to read for the original enquirer that Ancestry have these records.  I believe you mean The Local STUDIES Library, which is next to the West Yorkshire Archive Service (Kirklees).
