Wedding Party Sarah & Sidney Gale for clean and colour
« on: Wednesday 16 August 17 06:13 BST (UK) »

Hi, any help would be appreciated to help clean the grainy appearance of this 1937 wedding party of Sarah Duggan and Sidney Gale.

Any colour enhancement would help bring it to life., the bride and groom and bridesmaids were blue eyed and the bridesmaid dresses were mauve (it has been colourised by the photographer, but it needs brightening up).

Thanks and Kind Regards,  Aussielass :) :)

Here's my try. I found mauve a difficult colour to saturate. Anyone want to add more colour, be my guest.

Minor touch up, contrast adjustment and light recolour enhancement. Mauve is a difficult colour to get right, so hope my choice is ok and not to purple.

I agree Mike, mauve comes in many different variations - it is a tough colour to manipulate.

If you use PS CC then don't forget to make a new layer with the dress selection, and then adjust the brightness, levels and vibrance sliders/tools. Saturation you can use at the end for adding colour back in or out in connection with vibrance. Sometimes it is good to make two layers of the same layer and change the blend type i.e Colour dodge may give a brightness you need, and then new layer on top with lighten blend. You can adjust the opacity for each of the layers until close to your desired colour. Also of course you can adjust each layer seperately and the master background/photo levels on all tools (Brightness, levels, vibrance, saturation etc etc). Helps rather than just saturation slider which can put to much colour or not enough.... Having said that my go is probably to purple as well.
