 I am trying to identify the soldier on this picture and believe there is a number that I may be able to use, on this photo, to identify him.

I'll state the obvious first. Brierley Hill is in Staffs.
Not sure what his arm patch is but his Regimental name on his shoulder is quite long but doesn't look like Staffordshire.
The civvy is dressed typically 1920's but if this is post war it would have to be before the lanyard was moved to the other shoulder around mid decade.
What's the number you have ?

A clean up from me. I can't make out the shoulder badge either. As Jim says it is a long name, think it may have 'co' or 'cc' in the middle.

The arm badge looks like a drum, the trade badge for a drummer ( .

I'm puzzled by what appears to be a spray of flowers (?) on the tunic breast. Could this be a regimental anniversary, something like Minden Day ?  If so, what regiment ?

I have been informed that He is a drummer in the 'immortal' 29th Div around 1918. This included the 4th Worcestershire, which fits, as most of the family were in the Worcestershire regiments as they were originally from Stourbridge and the boundary with Staffordshire is very close. I am keen to read the number on his epaulette.Thank You all for looking.

The centre letters, they are not numbers,  don't really look as if they are the ESTER of the Worcesters.

How firm is your information that he is from 4th Battalion Worcesters?  The only Tyler that produces a hit for the 4th Worcesters is a Robert Tyler who served in 4th (as well as 1st) Battalion who was killed in action and came from Birmingham.

I don't have his name, the man with him is John Tyler, my Nan's brother. The soldier may be named Bullock, as he could be the man's nephew, but unsure.

In the 4th - Benjamin, Ernest, Samuel,  might have missed one or two.

If his name isn't Bullock then mission impossible.  You said you had a number??
