Local knowledge Falkland needed please
« on: Wednesday 16 August 17 10:40 BST (UK) »
I have a couple of families in Falkland in the Censuses, and also given on marriage registrations, as living at ‘Bellisle’ in Falkland.
I can’t seem to find this on a map anywhere.
Anyone have any ideas where it would have been?
Many thanks

wow! That's great FifanC.
Thanks very much for the links.  :)
Very interesting indeed.
Although it says in the OS Name Books (about 1855), it was a single storey stone house, in the 1861 and 1871 there seem to be at least 5 households living there. I guess they had one or two rooms each.

You say 'was' a house. Do you know if it is still standing?

Belleisle in Falkland is now South Street - see the low stone cottages near the church to the west of the Horsemarket on Google Earth.
