Major Harry Charles Rogers SA
« on: Wednesday 16 August 17 16:30 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace the later years of Harry who was my mother's Uncle. Born 1864 in Bristol -father Sydney mother Sarah.

He became a Salvation Army officer and married Jane Alice Stafford in Newcastle on Tyne in 1888.
They had three daughters, Alice, Lilian and Violet.

As SA officers they travelled frequently around the country and I have them in Southampton (1890) Stoke on Trent (1898), Loughborogh(1891) and Hull (1911), but nothing after that date.
Alice married and had two sons but I believe the other daughters did not marry.

I have contacted SA Retired Officers Unit but their records do not go back far enough, in fact a lot were destroyed in WW2 in the London blitz.

What I am seeking is Harry's movements after 1911 until his retirement and death.

Would be grateful for any help on this please.

Although not having full access to FindMyPast 1939 Census

It would seem Harry ROGERS was in Swansea - because one of his daughters was living there - although as yet not sign of Harry ROGERS

Alice T ARNOLD born 1891 - Swansea, C.B. Glamorgan
Lewis M ARNOLD born 1894  (Lewis Morton ARNOLD died March 1977, Swansea)
+ 1 person officially closed

Lillian Charity HOLLAND born 1890 - Kettering M.B. Northamptonshire
Edward John HOLLAND

I have today received a note from the SA HeritageTeam filling in much detail regarding this topic.
His final position was Lt Colonel as a Divisional Comander- something akin to a Bishop.
I can now put this one quietly to one side, with i's dotted and t's crossed.
Thanks for your input
