Son William was born 1832 so if he married Sarah Page in 1840 - that does not tie in with William's birth.

There are a few Thomas Adams in Sussex so you need to be certain of who married who

The register says Thomas was a bachelor, and his father was John Adams, Fisherman

i think you have it right with mary the dates tie in with marriage etc..

After I posted his father was John, not Thomas

Unfortunately no year shown here and no marriage appears on freebmd prior to 1851 which indicates it was pre-1837.  Note that both are single
