Cannot find trace of John's birth/baptism but since he was teaching at the national school for a very long time I wonder whether there might be useful information about him in the school records held at the Essex Record Office. Is anyone familiar with this set of records and what they hold.

Phoebe was born 20th Nov. 1810 and baptised 9 December 1810 in Prittlewell. They had a son Thomas baptised in Rochford 29 April 1832. From then on I can trace the Popplewell's through to the birth of my mother in the 1920's.
John was a schoolmaster in Rochford for many years and I wonder whether a search of the national school documents held at the Essex Record Office may tell us more about John who lived in the schoolhouse. Has anyone experience in searching through these collections at ERO that can offer advice.
