Odd Ancestry Result

I was recently contacted by an Ancestry user who had me flagged as a possible third cousin.   On the face of it, there could be a connection, in which case, this will be the closest match I've had so far.

The strange thing is, this person does not appear in my DNA matches at all 

Has anyone else had this sort of occurrence ?

Have you clicked on that persons profile and checked the match isnt a kit they manage?

Yes - it's not that, also I manage my wife's DNA profile and I've looked through that to see whether it is a match there.
