Trying to find the grave of Zenaide Burke, nee Bashkiroff
« on: Friday 18 August 17 21:21 BST (UK) »
Her grave should be in Ireland.

According to publications in press she died on 14th October 1996. Funerals took place on October, 22 to Tunbridge Wells Crematorium, England. But Crematorium says that shortly after the service her remains were removed. They don't have records by whom and where.
I suppose that her remains were sent to Ireland in Glenkeen graveyard, but she is not mentioned in Records from Glenkeen http://tipperarystudies.ie/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Glenkeen%20Gravestone%20Inscriptions%20reduced.pdf   May be they are not full, they are made in 2004.

Her husband Seamus Burke (Tipperary TD, 1918 – 1938) is buried in Glenkeen:
James A. Burke B.L., Rockforest, Roscrea died 10th June 1967 aged 74 years

Her daughter is in Glenkeen as well:
Natalie Isabella Burke
born 17th January 1930
only child of
James and Zinaide Burke
died 12th December 2012

I found an old topic about the genealogy of the Sumarakov-Elston genealogy (Zenaide is from this great family): http://forum.alexanderpalace.org/index.php?topic=3004.0  Her grave is mentioned there, but no location.

Where can it be?

There is her sister Xenia in the Deansgrange.

I have the official answer from Tunbridge Wells Crematorium and Cemetery confirming that they carried out the cremation for Zenaide on 22.10.1996 but shortly after the service her remains were removed.

Hi Fnna,

It looks like you added that headstone photograph yourself to Find a Grave as that photo was contributed by Fnna.

You could contact the person in charge of Deansgrange cemetery and they might be able to check the registers for you to see if Zeinade is buried with her sister.

Also you could maybe check the Irish newspapers on dates after her cremation to see if there is any death notice.  If there is it usually tells you where she is being buried.   Also you could check them for an obituary especially as she came from a well to do Russian family and also because her husband was a minister in the Irish Dail ( Parliament).

It is possible that she is buried in Deansgrange and maybe the family did not add an inscription.

A few options to continue your search

Hi Fnna,

If you don't have any success when you contact Deansgrange cemetery you could try some other options.
I see where an eminent historian Sean Hogan gave a talk to the Ormond Historical society about Seamus Burke back in January 2017 Details here in the Nenagh Guardian newspaper -

http://www.nenaghguardian.ie/news/roundup/articles/2017/01/05/4132648-bestselling-historian-to-give-nenagh-talk-on-seamus-burke-td/

The Ormond Historical society have their own website with contact details - if you contacted them they might be able to help you.

Maybe there was an obituary in the Nenagh Guardian newspaper when Zeinade died - there certainly would have been one for Seamus Burke.

Hope this helps you,
