Mother, Elizabeth Morris Young age 38 in 1901 Census

Edith was my grandmother, I would like to find a birth certificate for her. The only information I have is listed above from the 1901 Census from Worcester, Great Comberton, St. Michael's of Great Comberton, Rural Parish Pershore.

Welcome to RootsChat from me as well  :)

In 1901 Edith's mother Elizabeth is listed as born 1863 Martley Worcestershire   and I think this is Elizabeth in 1871 born as Pantal/el  pre her mother's marriage in 1866  and living with her married mother in Tedstone Delamere, Herefordshire using Joseph Morris's surname

Joseph Morris 26 b Claines,Worcs
Elizabeth Morris    28 b Upper Sapey
Elizabeth P Morris 6  Martley
Mary Morris 1 Martley
Mary Pantall 64  Mother in law Shropshire

Looking at the surname Morris I think this could be baptism of Edith

Edith Beatrice Morris
Baptism Date:    8 Feb 1891  St Mark, Marylebone Road, Westminster London
Mother Elizabeth Pantle Morris - Servant - Address 157 Marylebone Road

The GRO Reference is EDITH  BEATRICE MORRIS - No mother's maiden name listed
March Qtr1891 MARYLEBONE  Vol 01A  Page 589

Added in 1891 - 157/159 Marylebone Road was the Marylebone Female Protection Society  Home http://www.victorianlondon.org/charities/femaleprotectionsociety.htm

Edith married Fred Charles Schack in Chorlton, 25 Oct 1918. She was a sister/nurse and he was in the Canadian Army, both living at Nell Lane Hospital, Withington. Charles Young (deceased) is listed as her father.

Wow! Thank you! I would never have found anything searching on Young!

You, two, are sooooo wonderful!  ;D

Is there a way to get a birth certificate for Edith?

Thankyou, Sue

Hi Sue

You can order a birth cert from the General Register Office https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/menu.asp  You need to register which is free and to buy the cert use the reference number I posted above(and below). The cost from memory is £9.25 by post.

The GRO Reference EDITH  BEATRICE MORRIS
March Quarter 1891 MARYLEBONE (Registration District) Vol 01A  Page 589

There are also children there for the parents Charles Edwin/Amy Beatrice YOUNG & James/Mary YOUNG

All the very best

Ps on the marriage certificate copy the bride seems to have signed her name Pantell which differs a bit from what the vicar entered on the certificate

Oh thank you Phil!!

I have sent off for Edith Beatrice's birth certificate, so will have some more info soon. I had found the names of Charles and Elizabeth in the GRO record, but not the actual marriage date! One of the witnesses, Joseph Morris was her father or step-father, as she too was born before the marriage between Joseph and her mother Elizabeth! Pantell (Pantle, Pantal) seems to be the correct name.

Again thanks, the baptism info on Thomas Rowland Young is Edith's brother. The other entries for Charles Edwin/Amy Beatrice and John/Mary are not my people.

You are very appreciated!
Sue
