Hit a brick wall with Ruth Taylor
« on: Tuesday 22 August 17 14:35 BST (UK) »
The information that I have so far for Ruth Taylor.

I believe that Ruth TAYLOR was born about 1825 in North Nibley, Gloucestershire; in 1841 she was living in Wotton Under Edge.
Ruth TAYLOR married Joseph HANCOCK 2q 1844 Dursley 11 419 and died 1q 1882 Chippenham 5a 45 aged approx. 57 years.
In 1851 census HO107 1959 folio 153 Ruth & Joseph lived in Wotton Under Edge.

Any help appreciated. :)

So are you looking for her parents? Who does it give as her father on her marriage certificate?

I concur with Capetown, in fact you could have given us a little more detail i.e. that when Ruth was baptised in 1850 it was also with her 2 sisters Mary and Elizabeth.   Their mother Elizabeth's death reg'd Dec.1849 Dursley Reg. District and GRO index gives age as 60 i.e. bc.1789.

John Taylor married Elizabeth Tilley 24/3/1816 Wotton under Edge where their children were born but not baptised at the relevant time -

Sarah bc.1819 (married Joseph Webb 1848)
Ruth  bc.1823  (married Joseph Hancock 1844)
Mary bc.1825-1831 (age fluctuates on census)
Elizabeth bc.1831 (married Jesse Shearman 1850)

Ruth Taylor's birthplace on census is given as Wotton under edge not North Nibley.

A John Taylor bp.18/10/1787 Wotton under Edge, son of David and Eleanor, who could well be the John in question here.   1841 Census shows wife Elizabeth (nee Tilley) was born in Gloucestershire ca.1791 and have found a Betty Tilly bp.9/2/1791 Wotton under Edge, dau. of Betty Tilly.
