Charlotte's funeral was reported in The Gloucester Citizen of April 23, 1936.

Charlotte was "of School House, Longhope".  Her funeral service was held at Zion Baptist Church, Longhope.  Principal mourners included Miss E Cox (daughter), Messrs C Cox, S Cox and Albert Cox (sons), and Mr J Dawes and daughter.

There is no mention of Charlotte's husband or of the circumstances of her death.

There was a case in 1935 of Sidney Evan Cox for the attempted murder of his wife Charlotte - witnessed by their daughter.

The story appeared in the Gloucester Journal 5 October 1935.

Ah yes.  He had cut Charlotte's throat with a razor on 6 September 1935, causing serious injuries including to the jugular vein.

Their daughter Elsie had come into the room while the attack was taking place and hit her father with a spade, knocking him out.

I can't see any indication of whether the attack contributed to Charlotte's death in the spring of 1936.  The newspaper reports from 1935 show that she suffered serious blood loss but that her wounds healed sufficiently for her to be discharged home from Dilke Memorial Hospital.  She was not well enough, however, to give evidence before the magistrates.  She also suffered from chronic rheumatoid arthritis and serious degeneration of the heart (her doctor's evidence referred to her "periodic heart attacks").

Broadmoor is in Berkshire so this would seem to be the right death
