POOLEY, Robert b. c1818 Methwold, Norfolk, England

Hi there from Down Under
I am researching the POOLEY family from the Methwold area of Norfolk.
At present no matter how hard I look I am unable to locate the whereabouts of Robert POOLEY in 1841.

He was married in Northwold to Jane CRISP 30 April 1844 and I have them in 1851 living In High St., Methwold.

In 1853 they emigrated to Australia aboard the ship "David McIver" with their children Frederick William 1844, John 1847, Arthur Robert 1851 (another son William was born and died 1848).
Further children were born in Australia.
They lived their lives in NSW.

Born c 1818 Methwold, Norfolk, England
Parents William Pooley and Anne nee Maidwell - they were married 03 Dec 1804 Methwold and following are their known children:
Sophia 1806, John 1808, William 1810, Mary 1813 d 1819, Elizabeth 1815, Robert 1818, Ellen 1818, Mary 1819, Philip 1822

I have been told that in 1841 he was at Eastgate St, Methwold, Norfolk, England Age 20 Blacksmith

But I can't locate that entry

If anyone is able to clarify those details or add further to the family for that year I would be very happy 

Hoping for a favourable outcome if and when anyone may have the time.

There is a monument in the graveyard for William Pooley states he died 26 September 1834, the register says he was buried 29 September 1834 age 55

That is extremely good of you to tell me about that monument.
If I could tie it in to any of the chaps named William Pooley of Methwold that I have here it would be great.
I guess you would have mentioned if there were any family members named on the monument...?
From what we saw in England there aren't a lot with readable inscriptions 

Any way - the 4 William Pooleys I have in my database (most information from another researcher) are:

1 - William Pooley born c1757 Name of his parents John Pooley and Anne Unknown - Spouse Mary Rolfe born c1764

2 - William Pooley born c1780 Methwold, Norfolk Died 20 May 1833 Methwold, Norfolk Name of his parents William Pooley and Mary Rolfe - Spouse Ann Maidwell Married 03 Dec 1804 Methwold, Norfolk

3 - William Pooley born 10 Dec 1810 Methwold, Norfolk Name of his parents William Pooley and Ann Maidwell

4 - William Pooley born c1848 Methwold, Norfolk Died c1848 Methwold, Norfolk Name of his parents Robert Pooley and Jane Crisp

If you have time let me know if any of the above can shed any light on the chap whose monument you saw over there.

There is this MI on FamilySearch http://www.rootschat.com/links/01kmc/
which shows the death you have above, but there is no record in the Methwold PR's that correspond to it. I think it may relate to the burial of William Pooley on the 24 May 1855 (the year being misread on the MI)

I think the William Pooley born c1780 is the one "amondg" has above, buried in 1834 age 55

My home backs onto the graveyard of St Georges church in Methwold.  I will take a look for the gravestone for you and see what the inscriptions says. Many years ago all the gravestones were removed from their original positions and lined up in two rows and around the church walls.
