Hiya Sofee

His marriage seems to have been entered twice on the army records and on the second on its crossed out and his death is written on it thanks for the link I will check it out and see if I can match any other items up to it

Its a pity his father wasn't called Edward I have found one who married a Susannah Kimberley with a child the right age in Tipton (down the road from Dudley)

Don't get over excited but I might have a possible

1841 Kings Norton, Staffordshire none of them born in county

John Jones 30 pattern maker
Dina Jones 30
Edward Jones 5
Richard Jones 20

HO107/980/6

I think the problem is that Dudley comes under Staffordshire then under Worcestershire which make searching for him difficult

Hi willow yes Ive noticed sometimes Dudley comes under Staffordshire and sometimes under Worcestershire  which is even more confusing for me...Is there more than one Dudley by chance ?
I'm not so bad with Scottish Geography but not so much with English.
thanks this could be another possible?
Dina could very well be short for Doyannah  :)
John a pattern maker I not too sure about that I know people change jobs etc I was thinking more farm work etc he down as Farm bailiff on Edwards Marriage cert in 1859...Dina is certainly best so far for Doyannah Willow ....I'll put this record in my possibles folder.
thanks again Willow

No problem I will keep looking I have had absolutely no luck with John/Doyannah's marriage I am beginning to suspect that they may have married outside of England. There seems to be quite a few Quinlains in Wales but I haven't come across a marriage to a Jones yet

John could have changed occupation by the time Edward married it was 18 years after the 1841 census

I will keep poking and see what pops its head out

yes Dudley and Tipton are a pain, I used to see if a church or reg office had been indexed against it on west mids. sometimes I would get one which went under west brom. The other thing I used to do was look on Dudley archives web site to check their parish record holdings. A large portion of their records are on microfilm at Dudley. Although its all indexed in folders and against microfilm numbers.

Thanks Willow what a star you are the Dinah or Dinnahs could be the answer I never came across this name before which I did my original searches for this a number of years ago Ive found a few and married to John Jones so I'm going to file them all and go through each one as a process of elimination and hopefully I find the right family census ...if I find them I'm certainly post it on here to let you know,
