Elliott Family in 1901 Census.Possibly in Irvine ?
« on: Friday 25 August 17 12:15 BST (UK) »
Looking for Samuel Elliott, wife Mary Jane Elliott and family possible living in Irvine, as their daughter Lucy was born there at 3 John Street on the 29/11/1902. They are in the Ireland Census of 1911:
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Down/Crossgar/Cluntagh/239354/ but not in the 1901 Census. Could some please check if they were living in Irvine in or around 1901 ?

??? Agree Mary Jane is his mother in 1911, a street search in 1901 John Street, Irvine shows at 3 John Street an Anderson family but at numbers 5 and 7,  Elliot families b Ireland, so who were the parents of Lucy b 1902 or was the wife of Samuel a Mary Jane somewhere else in 1911?

Thanks to everyone for your replies. Samuel Elliott(B.1862) and Mary Jane Elliott(B. 1855) were married in Raffrey Presbyterian Church on the 7th Jan 1876, Which is in Co.Down not far from Cluntagh, all their other children were born in the area with exception of Lucy, Mary Jane is a widow in the 1911 Census, as Samuel her husband died on the 16th Feb 1911, aged 49 yrs.
They had a total of 13 children, with Lucy the only one born in Scotland. Don't know why they went to Irvine, but they obviously returned to near where they were born before 1911.
Again thanks to you all for your assistance.

Thanks Keyboard, it looks like they were visiting relatives, there are several Christian names there which keep repeating with each Generation.
Many Thanks.
