Conrad F Goeringer, Marrages
« on: Friday 25 August 17 19:50 BST (UK) »
According to details on a particular website Conrad F Goeringer born 1887/8 married  Mary Katherine Reinert in Merida Yucatan Mexico 1925, which seems to be strange becouse they had 6 children born between 1908 & 1918 in Wilkes-Barre PA. Conrad later married  Josephine McGreevy and had 2 further children together, Raymond 1928 & Louis 1932 in Wilkes-Barre.  clarification on the marrages would be greatly appreciated.

I can see the marriage record, but it's in Spanish and I last took a Spanish class a few decades ago.  It does mention something about Binghamton, New York and something about December 1907 and that they reside in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  I also found a passport application for Conrad that was issued 3 Jan. 1925 and it said he was travelling to Cuba, Mexico, and British Honduras.  No mention of Mary on the passport application, so maybe they had to verify that they were married for travelling purposes?

There is a 1942 wedding announcement in the Wilkes-Barre paper saying that the daughter of Mary Reinert Goeringer of Wynnewood and Conrad F. Goeringer was getting married.  Maybe Mary & Conrad got a divorce in Mexico?

This looks like Mary in 1940, listed as widowed - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KQDT-B5H

Since it looks like Conrad died in 1958, it was probably a divorced/claiming to be widowed thing.

It's interesting regarding the date on the Mexico document 1907 becouse the first child James Ellwood was born 1908, so it could have possibly been a travelling issue. Mary Reinert Goeringer obviously kept the name becouse she a Goeringer on her grave stone.

Kind regards

Maybe Dec. 1907 was when they married.  I have heard about people going to other countries in those days for a quick divorce, so maybe that was it.
