Any link up or was William away from family by 1861?

Yes, William (if it is him!) is still with the family in 1861 as a stepson and a scholar. By 1871 'my' William is a boarder away from home but I will check to see where his family is.

I can't find a matching death for Daniel JONES that I can be confident about between 1851 and 1859 - the youngest child of Daniel and Elizabeth (Ruth) is 8 in 1861. Daniel was born in Carmarthenshire in c 1808.

I've been looking through the burials but not much luck. I've been checking the obits and thought I'd found his death on 27th April 1854 in the obits* as it lists a Daniel Jones, carpenter, but this one was 38.  Also it was Clydach**

(*Monmouth Merlin May 5 1854).

Oh well that looks promising actually because he was a carpenter on the earlier 1851 census. I'll have a look at me map!
