printing family tree with Family Tree Maker 2006
« on: Sunday 27 August 17 11:40 BST (UK) »
having bought a new PC (Windows 10) I want to print out my tree but I find that some of the names are half on one sheet and the other half on the next A4 sheet. Is there something I can do to overcome this I am on Family Tree Maker 2006

I'm not familiar wth ftm2006 but the ft program I use has an option to avoid the edges of pages in print setup or print options and it moves them over accordingly.

If you are printing out a tree chart on A4 pages you will presumably need to stick the sheets together in some way for display purposes. If pages are trimmed neatly the two halves of names should match up correctly. The alternative is to either manually or automatically (if the software allows) move names over to avoid splitting them, but this can spoil a neat layout.

Thanks to Dawn and Mike for the reply but to trim 126 A4 pages will take some doing I did print a tree about 10 years ago and the problem of half a name on one sheet and the other half on another didn't occur if I update from 2006 to a later edition can this be avoided

With any program, even if you trim A4 sheets accurately, you will probably find some mis-alignment occurs with so many pages.
The only program which can guarantee not splitting words over pages is TreeDraw, because every element is addressable so can be moved away from page edges.
